{"id":10927,"date":"2024-06-05T08:14:46","date_gmt":"2024-06-05T12:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mote.org\/animal-patients\/homer\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T23:33:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T04:33:05","slug":"homer","status":"publish","type":"patient","link":"https:\/\/mote.org\/animal-patients\/homer\/","title":{"rendered":"Homer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This turtle was found just offshore from Holmes Beach entangled in monofilament fishing line.\u00a0The turtle is very emaciated and has many fibropapilloma tumors.\u00a0It was admitted to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital for treatment.\u00a0It has been started on antibiotics and fluids.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>01\/29\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle is responding to treatment and seems somewhat more alert and stronger.\u00a0Turtle ate (small amount of\u00a0squid)\u00a0for the first time this morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>02\/01\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle continues to eat very small amounts, but is stronger each day.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>02\/11\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Now eating better and gaining weight.\u00a0Planning to remove tumors in about one week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>02\/22\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle had laser surgery yesterday to remove all of the tumors and began to eat again this morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>02\/26\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle seems to be recovering very well from the surgery.\u00a0Appetite is excellent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>03\/05\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle is doing very well and surgery sites are healing well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>03\/12\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Surgery sites continue to heal well and turtle is gaining weight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>03\/22\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Continuing to heal well and gain weight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>03\/29\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle is continuing to do very well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>04\/11\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Radiographs today indicated that there may be internal tumors present.\u00a0We will investigate it further.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>04\/24\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle continues to do well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>05\/02\/2006<\/strong>\u00a0Laparoscopy was performed yesterday and turtle was euthanized because of internal tumors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This turtle was found just offshore from Holmes Beach entangled in monofilament fishing line.\u00a0The turtle is very emaciated and has many fibropapilloma tumors.\u00a0It was admitted to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation&nbsp;<span class=\"ellipsis\">&hellip;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","class_list":["post-10927","patient","type-patient","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Homer | Mote Marine Laboratory &amp;
