07\/08\/2025<\/strong> This turtle was found floating upside down in the surf line. It was transferred to Mote staff by Coastal Wildlife Club. It was reported that there was fishing line on the left front flipper at the time of stranding. <\/p>\n

08\/17\/2025<\/strong> “Josephine” has started eating more consistently and has grown to love all the different food types offered in rehab. “Josie” is not currently on antibiotics, but is receiving iron injections. “Josie” remains at a low water level and continues to improve buoyancy.<\/span><\/p>\n

09\/18\/2025<\/strong> “Josie” continues to eat well with assistance from staff members but still struggles to eat on own. We have started to raise the water level in her tank to encourage more swimming and control over buoyancy issues. The turtle is still receiving antibiotics, iron and anthelmintics (antiparasitic). <\/span><\/p>\n

10\/21\/2025<\/strong> “Josie” continues to eat well and can forage for her food without any assistance from rehabilitation staff. The water level in her tank is at full. The previous buoyancy issues are no longer present. This sea turtle is not on any antibiotics. She receives daily iron daily to supplement her diet.<\/span><\/p>\n

11\/07\/2025 <\/strong>Veterinary staff performed an exit exam and ‘Josie” was medically cleared for release. She was successfully released back to the wild on October 24th at Casey Key.<\/span><\/p>\n
