Alexis was an intern in the Sea Turtle Conservation and Research Program (STCRP) in 2013, and remained with the program as a staff member until 2016. She then continued sea turtle work at Loggerhead Marinelife Center and Collier County Parks and Recreation for the next several years while she obtained a masters degree. Her thesis focused on population structure of olive ridley sea turtles in Ghana, West Africa.
