{"id":6242,"date":"2024-04-15T19:31:39","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T23:31:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mote.org\/animal-patients\/grand-teton\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T23:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T04:33:08","slug":"grand-teton","status":"publish","type":"patient","link":"https:\/\/mote.org\/animal-patients\/grand-teton\/","title":{"rendered":"Grand Teton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>09\/28\/2023\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Turtle was found floating in Halifax Harbor Marina, Daytona in Volusia County and brought to Volusia County Marine Science Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10\/12\/2023\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Grand Teton was transferred to The Sea Turtle Hospital at Whitney Laboratory for Marine Science in St. Augustine for treatment because\u00a0it shows signs of fibropapillomatosis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>10\/18\/2023\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Grand Teton, Goofy, Figaro, and Cri-kee were transferred from White Lab to Mote for continued care in order to make space for incoming turtles on the east coast of Florida.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>10\/20\/2023\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Grand Teton is active and eating well.\u00a0Injectable antibiotics were discontinued, and turtle is now on oral antibiotics every other day.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>10\/27\/2023<\/strong>\u00a0Grand Teton continues to do well.\u00a0The depth of the tank was increased to full and daily diet is being increased.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>11\/11\/2023\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Grand Teton is very active and eating well.\u00a0His tank is at full depth.\u00a0Planning on scheduling pap tumor removal surgery soon now that blood values are normalizing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>11\/16\/2023\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Goofy and Grand Teton both had surgery today to remove fibropapilloma tumors.\u00a0The tumor load on both turtles was minimal, so only local anesthesia was necessary.\u00a0Both turtles were back in their tanks and eating well by the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>02\/08\/2024<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Turtle is very active and continues to eat all seafood offered.\u00a0Turtle had new growth of 3 new tumors, so had a second tumor removal procedure today using local anesthesia.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>02\/21\/2024\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Canton, Cascade, Cincy, Jackson, Jersey, Point Lookout, Sedona, Shenandoah, and Grand Teton were transported by Mote staff to the middle of the state and were released on the east coast of Florida by FWC staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>09\/28\/2023\u00a0\u00a0Turtle was found floating in Halifax Harbor Marina, Daytona in Volusia County and brought to Volusia County Marine Science Center. 10\/12\/2023\u00a0\u00a0Grand Teton was transferred to The Sea Turtle Hospital at&nbsp;<span class=\"ellipsis\">&hellip;<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":6243,"template":"","class_list":["post-6242","patient","type-patient","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.7 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Grand Teton | Mote Marine Laboratory &amp;
