{"id":7046,"date":"2024-04-18T14:42:33","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T18:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mote.org\/?page_id=7046"},"modified":"2024-06-18T11:37:59","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T15:37:59","slug":"reserve","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mote.org\/research\/centers-of-excellence\/red-tide-initiative\/reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Tide Initiative Facilities &#038; Culture Reservation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><small><a href=\"https:\/\/mote.org\/research\/centers-of-excellence\/red-tide-initiative\/\">Back to Initiative main page<\/a><\/small><\/p>\n<h2>Reserve Our Mesocosms, Raceways &amp; Culture<\/h2>\n<p>An important part of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mote.org\/research\/program\/florida-red-tide-mitigation-and-technology-development-initiative\">Florida Red Tide Mitigation and Technology Development Initiative<\/a>\u00a0was the development of a mesocosm\/raceway facility and the ability to provide large amounts of\u00a0<em>Karenia brevis<\/em>\u00a0culture for research\u2014to safely test mitigation and control techniques, compounds, and technologies in a controlled setting.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, Mote Marine Laboratory undertook this challenge and built these facilities\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mote.org\/locations\/details\/mote-aquaculture-park\">Mote Aquaculture Research Park<\/a>, located at 12300 Fruitville Road, Sarasota, FL 34240.\u00a0 These facilities allow Mote and many visiting researchers funded under the Initiative to move promising research\u00a0safely, efficiently and stepwise from the laboratory tabletop to small mesocosm\/raceways\u00a0 to larger mesocosms, and eventually, to field applications to help Florida coastal communities.<br \/>\nMote is attempting to provide these facilities, culture, and basic assistance at no cost for Initiative-funded projects.
