Environmental Health Internship<\/h2>\n

The Environmental Health Research Program<\/a> combines research with public outreach through investigating how human activities impact the environment, how environmental toxins impact human health, and the development of strategies to alleviate those impacts. The Environmental Health program develops and manages a variety of community science-driven projects to collect qualitative and quantitative environmental data throughout the state of Florida and the Southeast region. This includes the Beach Conditions Reporting System (BCRS; available at visitbeaches.org<\/a> or via mobile app), a volunteer-based program that provides near real-time beach conditions to the public, as well as assists in monitoring the effects of Florida red tide.<\/p>\n

Research focused interns will be working on water and air quality studies, as well as assisting with on-going projects related to Florida red tide monitoring and mitigation. Outreach focused interns will be involved in planning volunteer outreach efforts and will develop public outreach and education materials, including digital media, printed infographics, social media posts, and student learning activities. Self-motivated college students with general laboratory, modeling (ArcGIS, SWMM), statistics (Excel, R, Python, etc.), or media experience preferred.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
