Current research projects investigate the fate and effects of red tide toxins in the environment and explore mitigation strategies to minimize harm cause by red tide blooms. Ecotoxicology combines chemistry, biology, and ecology and interns will have the opportunity for both wet lab and bench work involving chemical extractions, organism toxicity assays, shellfish exposures, and cell culture assays.
